A VISION FOR THE FUTURE
OF UTILITY LOCATING
Utility services are the life blood of modern society. Every year, hundreds of thousands of buried gas, electrical, water, wastewater, and communications services are damaged from digging up the ground. These utility strikes cause service interruptions, incur substantial costs, and threaten both life and property.
Utility locating has been around for a long time, but there is more that can be done to reduce the risk of utility strikes. We need to do more than prevent damages; we need to know where our utilities are buried.
To truly make a difference, we need accurate, comprehensive maps of our underground infrastructure. We need to think beyond paint on the ground that washes away.
